Now that you know God’s covenant with man is the foundation of the Bible, let’s talk about God’s character. Just like you get to know people by being around them, you can get to know God by reading His Word. The Bible says God does not change (Malachi 3:6, James 1:17). Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” When you read God’s Word, one of the ways He shows you His character is in the sameness of the Bible.

Today I want you to know about God’s greatest act of unfailing love toward us: The New Covenant in Christ. About 1900 years after God made a covenant with Abraham, He sent His Son Jesus to Earth to be the last covenant sacrifice and give us salvation from sin. In Hebrews 8:10-12, God said in this New Covenant, we would all know Him and He would forgive our sins forever. This was a sharp contrast to the Old Covenant. Continue reading →
Today, let’s look at the life of David to see an example of God’s unfailing love. The Bible says David was a man after God’s own heart. (I Samuel 13:14 NIV) He wrote most of the Book of Psalms and spoke many times about God’s unfailing love. He committed some despicable sins, but he was quick to repent and humble himself and turn back to God. We can see God’s unfailing love and faithfulness to David and know He is just as loving and faithful to us.
